The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Today Was a Good Day

My 3 beauties

One of our favorite activities at the ocean is to play tennis with the waves. We throw a tennis ball out into the crashing waves and then race to see who can retrieve it first. You never know where the waves will take it.  The ball bounces and bobs and is tossed along until someone scoops it up and throws it again.

Seagull watching and dare I say feeding is another favorite of ours.

Exploring the beach and checking out lifeguard houses and unique views

Running and playing and of course my World Cup cheerleaders do handstands and tucks on the beach

Collecting shells and building castles

All of those things are glorious, but this last picture shows what is perfection to me.  It is the end of the day, sun is setting, skin is sun kissed, crowd is gone, and all is left is us and the sounds of the waves.  The girls together, getting along and being one family.  This is peace.  This is love, my family.
This is how a good day ends as a great day!

Photo of the Week – Surprise

lilyTook this photo this morning in my garden.  I am choosing it, since it was a surprise.  I didn’t plant it.  It must have been accidentally mixed in the bulbs I bought this year.
I love it and was so pleased to see it bloom.

I hope your day is full of joy and pleasant surprises.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: One Item or the Number 1

Cee does a lot of great photo challenges. This week her fun foto challenge had a theme of one item or the number one.  This is tough for me since I have twos and threes in my house. But after a little thinking, I thought of my peonies. Most of my plants come in clusters, but my peonies are large singular flowers I often photograph alone.
one-peony
One of my favorite spring activities is watching my peonies grow. It really is exciting! The coral colored ones come out of the soil very early in the Spring and their foliage is very red. With sunshine to encourage growth, the leaves begin to slowly unfurl. It is like a slow countdown of summer.

Another type, Red Charm, have their flower buds formed before pushing out of the soil. They remind me of how within each of us is beauty.

Inner beauty is inside each of us.  We are all beautiful in God’s eyes. However, many people don’t feel beautiful inside.  We are often smothered by a lack of confidence and even a lack of acceptance of other people.  It is easy to compare ourselves to others instead of looking at what is within ourselves.

So the next time you see a peony flower think of YOUR
inner strength
inner beauty
and know you are special.

Song of Solomon 4:7   You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you

Skies the Limit

Ever think, I wish I could do that?  I would love to do that but, I can’t because of x y z and any other reason you can think of at the moment?  I ‘m too this, I’m too that…Sure we all have issues, some bigger than others, but NO ONE has to be controlled by their issues.
dream-believe-it
A year ago I wouldn’t have even made it up the steps to get to this trail.  Let alone be standing at the top of the mountain with eagles soaring right about my head.  I did it because I wanted to.  I got myself to this point because I chose not to allow my issues control me and what I wanted to do in life.

Let’s be real here.  We all have issues.  Some good, some bad and some, well let’s not go there 🙂  It is how we deal with them that can alter our lives positively or negatively.

You can do it too!  The key involves the do you really want to part. What “why” do you have to want to do this?  Once you get a real, heart tugging purpose or “why” then you will have the strength to move forward, past your issues, past your naysayers, and into the beautiful blue skies where there is  no limit to what you can do.

Want help finding your why?  Message me and we will talk.

Here is my why, my purpose to changing bad habits to healthier habits.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Perspective

Cee does a lot of great photo challenges. This week her fun foto challenge had a theme of perspective.  Your photo can be of anything or anyone in the world.  She just wants to see it from a different perspective.  For this challenge I choose a photo I took of my three girls on a hike.  Maybe my thoughts on perspective are different than Cee’s but I think this photo is perfect for it. What do you think?

cees-fun-foto-perspective
As you can see in the back Mandi has a different perspective than her twin.  Molly loved the hike, took the lead even with the challenging rocky parts, and was smiling throughout. Emma liked it at first but quickly tired and was just wanting to finish.  Mandi or Miss Miserable that day was determined NOT to have fun.  She was a sour pouty girl for the first 3/4 of the hike. She wouldn’t even pose for a photo.  Lol this picture makes me laugh…  13 year olds can be so willful.

But guess what?  By the end her missed Youtube show was long forgotten and she was thrilled with the sights and sounds of the woods.  No one, not even Mandi wanted to leave at the end as they were playing a game of whose stick or leaf would float the fastest under the bridge.

So yes this picture was taken from above and the perspective of down a steep slope is nice, but the different perspectives of attitude is why I really chose this photo.

Be sure to stop over and see what others are doing for the challenge.

Cee’s Black & White Challenge

This week’s topic is Take a New Photo.  Cee says you can use any photo you have taken in the last week or two, if you can’t get out and get photo’s today.  Today I am off from work because my baby puppy, Juliet needed eye surgery.  While I wait, I kept myself busy in the garden and with some yard work.  This is from my one hanging planter.

Weekly Pet Share – Batdog? or just Batty?

dog-with-bat-on-headThis is Lulu
She is my baby girl
Ok she is old and feisty but will always be my baby.

She is a Shipom
That is Shitzu Pomeranian or Mutt with a dignified designer name

She likes to burrow and hide under butts, pillows, blankets, clean laundry piles, beanbag chairs…yes you have to be careful when you sit because at 4 pounds she is hard to notice.  My girls recently discovered she likes things on her head.  So for one evening she sat staunchly with a toy bat for a hat.  We of course took a picture.

If you want to share your pet or view others, stop by Michelle’s and check it out.

Ditch that Scale

Do you find yourself hopping on the scale daily (in the morning in your birthday suit) and letting the scale determine how you feel about yourself that day?
No-weigh
Maybe YOU hop on the scale in the morning AND after you poop, you’re praying that there’s a pound drop after you take care of some business?  Don’t act like I’m the only one that does that!  LOL but seriously… I faithfully stood on that scale each morning waiting for it to tell me how to feel for the day.

If it was lower than expected I’d walked away in a good mood and would even sometimes unconsciously “reward myself” with some type of food that’s not clean.

If it was higher, a rush of self-doubt, frustration, and slight depression would hit me like a fly-away Mac Truck to the head.

Believe it or not, whether or not the scale was higher or lower, I still ended up overeating.

Since we’re family and you’re reading this, why not join me in my challenge for the next 30 days? Let’s ditch our scales together, hide it in the closet, and don’t weigh ourselves again for 30 Days

When does the 30 days start?  Monday
You commit to exercising 3-4 days a week and eating healthy and no scale.

Maine Bed And Breakfast to Sell for $125 and 200 Words #BeWoW

Have you’ve always hoped to give up your  job to move to Maine to operate a historic bed and breakfast?

How about one that sits on 12 acres and has scenic views of Kezar Lake and the White Mountains?

Well if you said yes, then the Center Lovell Inn, built in 1805, could be your dream come true. All you need to make it yours is $125, a postage stamp, and the best 200-word essay around.  Yes, that is all you need.

In 1993, then-owners of the Inn, Bil and Susie Mosca, held an essay contest (entry fee: $100) to find a successor. They chose Janice Sage, who had been managing a 50,000-square-foot restaurant in Maryland before winning ownership of the Inn. But after more than two decades of managing the bed and breakfast, Sage, now 68, is ready to retire. And she’s planning her own essay contest to find the Inn’s new owner.

The contest has already been deemed legal in Maine because the essay component makes it a matter of skill and not luck. Sage hopes to receive at least 7500 entries, which would earn her the $900,000 that local real estate agents suggested she list the Inn for although unlike the Moscas before her, Sage has not promised to stop collecting entrants after she hits that amount.

“If I get more entries, all the better,” she said. Well seriously, do you blame her?

To apply, aspiring Inn-owners who are 18 years of age and older can send a 200-or-less-word essay on the topic of why they’re the right fit, as well as a check for $125, to the Center Lovell Inn postmarked by May 7 (you can read the full instructions here). Sage will narrow down the applicants to a top 20 and from there, two anonymous judges will pick the new owner of the Inn. If you apply, be sure you’re ready to dive headfirst into ownership.  You do have to promise to run the inn for one year.  Sage is hoping to announce a successor on May 21st.

The Moscas are not involved in the contest this time around, but the couple still live in Lovell. Bil is confident that just as it did last time, the essay contest will deliver a fitting new owner for the old Inn.

He said people often asked him when he and his wife held their contest, What if you get the wrong person or what if this person lies to you?’ His answer was and still is, ‘We trust.’ It was part of the magic of this whole thing. And it turned out he was right.

I chose this contest for BeWow for several reasons.  First, it is a wonderful example of Americana.  A bed and breakfast in Maine, a tradition of Trust and good faith.  I love it.

Second, I chose it because of the wonderful opportunity this contest offers for the current owner as well as the future owner.

Finally, I chose it because Janice Sage has initiated a contest to give it away to the winner of a short essay contest, and in the process ignited the dreams of thousands of hopefuls.  How wonderful is that?

Wordless Wednesday

On Wednesdays all over the internet, bloggers post a photograph with no words to explain it on their blog. Hence the ‘wordless’ title. The idea is that the photo itself says so much that it doesn’t need any description. For me this photo says so much about me.
